Gresik – An atmosphere full of togetherness enveloped the implementation of the first tarawih prayer on Tuesday evening, February 17, 2026, at the Al Mizan Mosque of Muhammadiyah 10 GKB Gresik High School (Smamio). The congregation enthusiastically filled the mosque to welcome the first night of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
The implementation of this tarawih coincided with the determination of 1 Ramadan 1447 H by Muhammadiyah which falls on February 18, 2026. Although there are differences in the determination of the start of Ramadan in the community, the entire Smamio community continues to uphold the values of brotherhood, tolerance, and peace, as well as respecting differences as part of Islamic brotherhood.
The Isha and tarawih prayers were led by Imam Ustadz Ahmad Labiqul Qawim Al Faiz, S.Pd., who is also the Musyrif of the Al Mizan Dormitory. The tartil and deep recitation of the Qur'an creates a solemn and calming atmosphere, making the congregation feel the solemnity of the first night of Ramadan even more.
The Deputy Principal for ISMUBA, Hudzaifaturrahman, S.Th.I., said that the implementation of congregational tarawih in the Smamio environment is not just a routine of worship, but part of character education based on the values of Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah.
"This congregational tarawih is a means of spiritual development for all students and the community. We want to build a habit of loving the mosque, discipline in worship, and strengthen Islamic brotherhood. Ramadan is the best momentum to instill the values of sincerity, patience, and responsibility," he said.
The Head of Takmir of Al Mizan Mosque, Muharjo, also expressed his gratitude and happiness for the smooth implementation of the first tarawih. "Alhamdulillah, the implementation of the first tarawih tonight went smoothly, orderly, and full of reverence. We are happy to see the enthusiasm of the congregation. Hopefully this good atmosphere will continue until the end of Ramadan," he said.
Support and appreciation also came from residents of Jalan Ruby and the Head of the RT, Suladi. He expressed his pride and joy over the existence of the Al Mizan Mosque which is located in the school environment and has been the center of worship and social activities in the community.
“We are very happy and grateful for the existence of the Al Mizan Mosque. This mosque is a very meaningful place for local residents. Many people gather here to worship, socialize, and do other positive activities. Its existence brings blessings and peace to local residents. Of course, the Al Mizan Mosque is very useful for local residents to worship and as a means of preaching for the advancement of Islam in our environment,” he said.
With the holding of this first tarawih, the extended family of Smamio Gresik welcomes Ramadan with gratitude and hope, while strengthening its commitment as a school with an Islamic character that upholds peace and provides real benefits to the surrounding community.
