Smamio Selected as Muhammadiyah's National Excellence Accelerated School

Yogyakarta — Muhammadiyah 10 GKB Gresik High School (Smamio) was selected as one of 22 nationally superior Muhammadiyah schools to become a pilot project for the Muhammadiyah Unggul School/Madrasah Acceleration Program. The determination was marked by Smamio's participation in the National Workshop organized by the Basic, Secondary and Non-Formal Education Council (Dikdasmen & PNF) of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership.
The National Workshop for the Acceleration of Muhammadiyah Unggul Schools/Madrasahs was held on Friday, January 30 to Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This activity was attended by selected school principals and educational leaders from various regions of Indonesia who were considered to have a strong commitment to developing educational quality and innovation.
In the strategic forum, participants discussed strengthening the school quality assurance system, transformative leadership of school principals, and accelerating academic development and student achievement. The entire series of activities were packaged in the form of a workshop, focus group discussions, and workshops that encouraged the birth of best practices in managing superior Muhammadiyah schools.
This workshop presented speakers from national education figures, elements of the ministry, the Muhammadiyah association, and education practitioners from high-achieving schools. The material presented includes national education policies, strengthening Islamic character and values, to best practices in managing superior schools that are adaptive and competitive.
Smamio sent three delegates, namely Ulyatun Nikmah, M.Pd, Dr. Anis Shofatun, M.Si, and Khinanjar Widiartama, S.Pd. The participation of the three representatives demonstrates Smamio's seriousness in strengthening school governance, improving academic quality, and accelerating student achievement in a sustainable manner.
The Chairman of the Muhammadiyah PP Dikdasmen and PNF Council, Didik Suhardi, Ph.D, emphasized that this acceleration program is a strategic step for Muhammadiyah in responding to future educational challenges.
"This program is Muhammadiyah's effort to prepare superior schools and madrasas with a strong quality assurance system, effective leadership, and integration of Islamic values. The selected schools are expected to be role models for other Muhammadiyah schools throughout Indonesia," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Principal of SMA Muhammadiyah 10 GKB Gresik, Ulyatun Nikmah, M.Pd, expressed her gratitude for the trust given to Smamio.
“Alhamdulillah, Smamio is honored to be trusted to participate in the National Workshop on Acceleration of Muhammadiyah Unggul Schools/Madrasahs. This activity provides significant reinforcement, especially in quality assurance and improving the quality of school resources,” she said.
Furthermore, she emphasized Smamio’s commitment to follow up on the results of the workshop in a real and sustainable manner.
“We are committed to implementing the results of this workshop so that Smamio continues to develop as a superior school that achieves, has an Islamic character, and is able to produce a globally competitive generation with progressive Islamic values,” he added.
Through participation in this National Workshop, Smamio further strengthens its position as a progressive and adaptive Muhammadiyah school in efforts to continuously improve the quality of education.
