Getting to Know Yourself Before the Wedding: How the Gresik Ministry of Religion and Smamio Protect Grade XII Students
Public Relations

Gresik — Entering the transition phase from white and gray uniforms to the world of campus and social life, grade XII students of SMA Muhammadiyah 10 GKB Gresik (Smamio) received spiritual provisions as provisions for facing the future.
Al Mizan Mosque Smamio witnessed the enthusiasm of the students in the Inspiring Talk activity entitled “Self Love First: Getting to Know Yourself Before Getting to Know the Wedding Stage” which was held on Thursday (21/5).
In the activity, Smamio presented two speakers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) Office of Gresik Regency, namely Islamic Religious Counselor Mas'ud, S.Sos.I and H. Nailul Muna, Lc., M.Pd.
The Head of Smamio, Ulyatun Nikmah, M.Pd., emphasized that this activity was deliberately designed as an important provision before students enter society. According to her, character and spirituality development have a big role in determining the future of the younger generation.
"Today is a spiritual breakfast as well as a provision for life. Be a good person, because the goodness we plant will return to ourselves. Keep your attitude, strengthen your worship, and maintain your self-respect," said Ulyatun in her speech.
In his material session, Mas'ud discussed the psychological dynamics of adolescents who are in the transition phase towards adulthood. He explained that the age of high school graduates is a crucial period because teenagers are no longer considered children, but also not yet fully mature as adults.
"This condition often gives rise to identity crises and fluctuating emotions. Therefore, mentoring is very important to provide life skills, education about the importance of delaying early marriage, and preparing for a mature future and career," he said.
Mas'ud also corrected the public's view of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). According to him, KUA does not only function as a place to register marriages.
"KUA also serves waqf affairs, eradicating illiteracy of the Qur'an, preventing narcotics, and providing family assistance," he explained.
He also advised the younger generation to be able to control themselves, be selective in choosing their circle of friends, and not be easily influenced by hoax information.
Meanwhile, H. Nailul Muna delivered material regarding premarital readiness from the perspective of Islamic law. He emphasized that the concept of self-love in Islam is closely related to the ability to maintain self-respect and understand the responsibilities of life.
“Knowing yourself is key. We must know our limits, rights, and obligations. By maintaining relationships according to Islamic guidelines, we are saving our own future,” he concluded.
The activity was interactive and received a positive response from the students. Through this activity, Smamio hopes that students will not only be academically prepared, but also have strong mental, spiritual, and character readiness to face life after graduating from school.
